Today is a day to celebrate the periodic table of elements, one of the most important tools in chemistry. To commemorate this special day, here are some fun facts about the periodic
1. The periodic table was first proposed by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869.
2. The periodic table is arranged in order of increasing atomic number.
3. There are 118 elements in the periodic table, including the recently discovered elements nihonium, moscovium, tennessine, and oganesson.
4. The most abundant element in the known universe is hydrogen, followed by helium.
5. The most reactive element is fluorine, followed by chlorine and bromine.
6. The most abundant metal in the Earth's crust is aluminum, followed by iron and calcium.
7. The most abundant non-metal in the Earth's crust is oxygen, followed by silicon and sulfur.
8. The most abundant noble gas in the Earth's atmosphere is argon, followed by helium and neon.
